School front cover

My finished front cover of my school magazine, 'Hampstead Hype', aimed at everyone in Hampstead school including the parents of students. It includes; the red and black colour scheme of Hampstead school, this is shown through the red border that surrounds the page and the black font of all text on the page. The front cover also includes the issue number and date of release in full; these two features are placed in the bottom right hand corner this is so that they don't detract from the main image of the new school building in the background. The main image in the background is a long-shot of the new school building, i have used this image because it represents the school as an advanced, nice to look at, structurally developed place to be. The front cover also has the school website on it, this is included because i think it is important that the magazine and website are both recognised as an external source of information to the school and that both the website and the magazine work in conjunction with eachother. Also featured on the front cover is a Latin quote, 'faber est quisque fortunae suae' meaning, 'every man is the architect of his own fortune'. I have included this quote on the front cover of the school magazine because I wanted a feature on the front cover to show the history of the school, whilst the image connotes the future of the school. This quote also works as an inspirational motto for the school. The title of the school magazine is 'Hampstead Hype', i thought it was important to have the word Hampstead in the title of the magazine so that the magazine does not seem separate form the school and the word 'Hype' was chosen because of its connotations with news, suggesting that this magazine will be up to date with all the latest news.

Front page of School magazine, second draft.

This, second draft of my school magazine front cover follows the same conventions as my first draft; featuiring four main parts and keeping the positions of the issue number, key image, masthead and date of release on the page. I have changed the key image for the front cover to an image of the new building and i have also changed the font clour of all the text on the page. Th enew image represents Hampstead in a different, more sophisticated manner and highlights the developments the school is making.
Practically, this image works well because it allows for the masthead to be placed infront of clear, light colours and allows for the font of all of the text to be black; following the conventions set by the contents page in which all the text is black.

School magazine front cover, first draft

This is my first draft of my front cover for my school magazine, I have chosen to design the front cover without alot of articles so that the front cover is eye-catching through imagery rather than through article intrigue. The front page includes4 main features; the issue number, date of release, key image and masthead.
The key image, is a picture of school artwork, i used this image in order to dislpay the artistic and creative nature of Hampstead school and also to showcase some student talent.

Contents page

This is the final draft of my contents page for my school magazine, 'Hampstead Hype', on it, i have  also included the red and black colour scheme of the school, i have done this by continuing to use the red border line surrounding the page and by featuring the school logo in the top right hand corner of the page. It is important to include the school logo on the contents page so that, again, the magazine does not become seperate from the school and its values. The word 'contents' is spread across the top of page in large black font, by making this word cover most ofthe width of the page it gives structur eto the rest of the page. 7 different images feature on the article page which are all original images of students, the school building, and places around school. I have included 7 images so that the page is eyecatching and so that the reader is not overwhelmed by text on the page and instead can see what the magazine is likely to be made up of by looking at these images. Also on the contents page are four sections filled with text, one detailing the upcoming exam timetables that students will need, one detailing what is coming up within the next few weeks at school, one a message from the headteacher and the fourth being the list of the magazines contents. Each of these features are very imporatnant to the magazine, the exam timetable is very  importatn in reminding our students of when they will be sitting there exams and of our support and commintment in mamking sure they get good grades. The mesage from the headteacher is also a very important feature, it shows our students that we have a very 'hands on; head teacher who is involved in all aspects of the school and it also shows parents the opinions of the headteacher that they might not have gotten otherwise. The list of contents is placed in the centre of the page in the middle of the images, this is so that it is the first thing that the reader sees.

School newsletter research

This is the first draft of my contents page for my Hampstead magazine, named 'Hampstead Hype'. I have used images from both the internet, the Hampstead school website and original images from the school shared drive.
With this contents page, i aimed to represent the school as a vibrant place to be with the inclusion of brightly coloured pictures showing the different aspects of Hampstead school life.
The contents page follows the red colour-code of the magazine and represents the school colours with a red boder around the page.
I used alot of key images in order to make the page easy and not daunting to look at and had them bordering the list of contents, showing that the contents list is the main part of the page.
